It would be better if the single mother waited until she had a firm grip on her new lifestyle before she attempts to date.
Families are very nosey when it comes to single mothers dating. The family might urge the mother to date too soon. Offers to match-make or invitations to social events planned by family members may be forth coming. Only the single mother will know when she is ready to start dating again.
Many single mothers lack the self-esteem or are just too tired to devote time to dating. Instead of advice, it would be nice if people offered some of their time to take care of the children before pressing the mother into dating again. She may need some time to herself. She may need to get more in shape or give herself a beauty treatment. Once she is more comfortable with her newfound freedom and image, she will undoubtedly start dating again.
Advising a single mother to date may be well intentioned but actually be intrusive. She is a grown woman caring for children. She doesn't need to be reminded to keep herself safe or to be careful. She understands the risks of dating more than most woman. Her children depend on her health, her well-being and her mental and emotional soundness.
Once a single mothers starts dating, the family should not show too much interest in her romantic life. She needs to protect her children from another failed relationship and maintain her dignity as well. Bringing up failed relationships in front of her family or friends and dwelling on her finding someone to married will end up being stressful for everyone. For a single mother, no advice may sometimes be the best advice to give.
